What a proud, long life Uncle Jimmy has lived. While it is so sad to have him go and no longer get his cards, pictures and my favorite petit fours to mark holidays, he´ll always make my family smile and remember him fondly. I will miss his humor, intelligence, shared social values to discuss and his love for his family, education and his country, which he truly served in his careers. Rest In Peace with Aunt Dee and your Nolan siblings, niece Kathy and those who have come before you. Condolences to his loving children, grand and great children, who gave him so much joy and pride that we all in CA got to see through the many Xmas letters, and calls and emails that Patti patiently assisted with to help when talking became harder, since nothing could hold Uncle Jim back from staying connected to those he loved and I was most touched by that.
California grand niece Julie, husband Scott, and twins Sam and Allie

My Uncle Jim was a guiding and supportive presence in my life for many years. His wisdom and experiences, delivered in story format over a good meal, were always served up with love and a twinkle in his eye. Jim and his daughter, Patti, warmed our lives for many years. We miss him and will never forget him. Nancy and Steve Flanagan

I was blessed to call the Colonel my friend & enjoyed every visit I had with him, hearing all of his war stories. It was clear he loved his wife dearly as he talked of her often. He will forever be in my heart!

We were lucky enough to be neighbors of Jim and Dee from 1999, when we moved into the Forestdale neighborhood in Auburn, until Jim moved to Kentucky. His warmth and great sense of humor made him special to us. And what he knew?! He'd lived through and participated in many of the most momentous moments of the 20th century and to hear him talk about what he'd done and where he'd been and how he saw things was a privilege. Truly, they don't make them like Jim anymore! We send our love and condolences to his family. Jay Lamar and Bill Turner
