Obituary of Wilburn Hatton
Wilburn Hatton, 97, husband of 53 years to the late Emma Jean Hatton, passed away on March 17, 2024, in Wilmore, Kentucky. Wilburn was born in Winchester, Kentucky, on January 4, 1927, to the late Jim and Emma Hatton. Wilburn served in the U.S. Army during WWII earning a Victory Ribbon and an Army Occupation Medal for his time in Germany. He also served in the army reserve for 20 years. Wilburn went on to work as an auto mechanic for Verizon and was a member of Christ Centered Church. He loved to spend his time making iron work garden ornaments and listening to country and bluegrass music, but his pride and joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Gerry (Diane) Hatton, of Richmond; Debra (Robert) Giles, of Versailles; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Hatton, of Richmond; and his grandchildren, Dana Hatton-Middleton, Angela Browning, Patricia Mitchell, Robin Brown; and his great-grandchildren, Kadence Browning, Keaston Browning, Hannah Mitchell, Logan Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, Porter Brown and Palmer Grace Carmichael.
In addition to his parents and wife, Wilburn was preceded in death by his son, Gayle Hatton, and his grandson, Colby Giles.
A funeral service will be held for Wilburn Hatton on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11:30 am at Clark Legacy Center, Nicholasville, KY. Visitation will be from 10am till the time of service at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Winchester Cemetery, Winchester, KY.
Pallbearers include Mark Middleton, Bryan Browning, Kadence Browning, John Carmichael, Porter Brown, J.T. Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, and Logan Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mr. Wilburn Hatton to Disabled American Veterans.
