Obituary of Julia Howell

We are sad to announce the passing of Julia "Carol" Howell (McIntosh), who left this earth on Sunday, February 18, 2024, peacefully in her sleep after a long battle of health complications. Carol loved and cherished her family & loved ones more than anything else.  She loved the Blue Ridge Parkway and traveling there with Tony. She enjoyed her photography taking pictures of grass, fence posts, barns, wildflowers,  landmarks, mile markers, vista's, mailboxes, trees (shared love with her sister) and so much more. She could see a rusty nail on a fence post and find beauty and a story in it.  Her biggest enjoyment was just being with her family and her fur babies. She had the heart of a loving mom to everyone she met. Many people in her life were touched by her kindness and love and was called "Momma Carol" by many. We will miss her very much.

Survived by her parents Russell (Emma) McIntosh & Bette McIntosh, sister Glenda (Shaun) Powers, son Daniel Sloan, son David (Meagan) Sloan. Grandchildren Gracie Sloan, Nicolas Sloan, Stacey Rapier, & Olivia Rapier, daughter Angela C. Sloan, grandchildren Cayden Bradshaw, Caitlynn Bradshaw, & Cooper Sloan. Nephews, Caleb (Cassie) Zitter, & Charlie Zitter, great nephew, Lincoln Zitter, her beloved fur baby, Bentley, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins and many lifelong friends.

Carol was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and she loved attending her meetings regularly.

To honor Carol’s memory, we are holding a celebration of life on February 25, 2024 at Clark Legacy Lexington 2-5 service starts at 4. We invite anyone who knew her to attend and remember what wonderful love & joy she brought to our lives.
