Obituary of Mildred “Mimi” Clay Hogan Hackney

Mildred Clay "Mimi" (Hogan) Hackney, 93, wife of the late Donald Frederick Hackney, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Lexington. Mimi was born in Versailles, Kentucky on October 21, 1930 to the late William Clarence Hogan and Stella Martin Hogan. She graduated from the U.K.College of Fine Arts and taught school in Woodford County for several years. She was a stay-at-home mother before resuming her career with the Kentucky Department of Education as an artist. Mimi was a very active member of Versailles Baptist Church, teaching first grade Sunday School for most of her adult life. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and participating in a number of church groups. She was a longtime member of the Mortonsville Homemakers Club. Mimi was known for her artistic creativity, as well as her outgoing, compassionate personality.

She is survived by her son, Alan (Tara) Hackney and her daughter, Mary Dean (Philip) Vertuca. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Keith Hackney, and her siblings, Russell Hogan, Clarence Hogan, Dean Hogan, and Pat Bonta.

Visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm, on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill in Versailles, Kentucky. A memorial service will follow at 12:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Connor Alford officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodford Humane Society or Bluegrass Care Navigators.
