Obituary of Marie Yamashita Wood

Marie Yamashita Wood, 84, widow of Carl Wood, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024. She was born in Okayama, Japan on August 5, 1939. She was a restaurant owner here in Lexington, and for many years ran Nagasaki Inn.  

Those left to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Gina (William) Etherton; her sister in Chicago; a brother in Evansville; grandchildren, Cody Emberton, Brynn Emberton; and great grandchild, Ziva Campbell. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her son, Tim Emberton; grandson, Robert Campbell; and her fur baby, Miss Maya.  

A Celebration of Life is pending for a future date at Red Mile, Lexington, KY. Day and time will be updated shortly.
