Obituary of Melvin Harry Orth

Melvin Harry Orth, 89, widower of Ruth Orth, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023. He was born on May 19, 1934 in Newport, KY to the late Elsie A. Schmitt and Harry B. Orth. Mr. Orth was a member of Jessamine Christian Church and had worked for Walmart in Sarasota, Florida as a greeter. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Elizabeth (Philip) Jones, Billie Jean Trent; sons, Richard Orth, Paul Orth, Beverly South, Ricky (Robin) Orth; brother, Howard (Glenda) Orth; a daughter who didn’t have to be, Michele Laber; grandchildren, Brittany Jones, Mathew Jones, Melissa Orth, Paul C. Orth, Paul Junior Orth, Sidney Wayne Orth, Beverly South Jr, Troy William South, Patricia Lynn Reigle, Timothy Trent, Jr., and Danielle Orth; 22 great grandchildren, several great great grandchild. 

In addition to his wife of 45 years, and parents, Mr. Orth is preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Hine; his brother, Earl Orth; and grandchild, Charles Leisring. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 4-6PM at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. A funeral service will be Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 11AM at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing with graveside service immediately to follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens at 12PM. Paul Huber will be officiating and serving as casket bearers will be, Paul Christopher Orth, William Jones, Sydney Orth, Will Berger, and Thad Bramble. Honorary casket bearers include William Berger and Andrew Sparks.  

Immediately following the graveside service, there will be a fellowship back at the funeral home from 1-2PM.
