Obituary of Michael John Dolan

Michael John Dolan, known as Mike, age 77, died in Lexington, KY on April 28th, 2023. Michael was born to John Dolan & Virginia Dolan in New York, NY on May 17th, 1945. 

 

As a child from a military family of service, moving and relocating took the Dolan family to a number of locations, to include; New London, Ct, Virginia Beach VA, Key West, San Diego, & Washington DC with siblings added along the way, first Kevin, then Jane, and finally Brian.

 

Michael attended Bishop O'Connell high school in Arlington, VA and grew up playing a variety of sports, to include life long passions for boxing, golf, and baseball. He obtained his associates degree from the northern Virginia University system before starting his family. Michael was a 25 year executive with Marriott International that saw him travel across the country and around the world. Career achievements, included: General Manager of the Year, Sales & Marketing Leader of the Year, & he became the youngest General Manager in the history of Marriott at the age of 36 along with a number of other awards & accomplishments along the way. After Marriott International he served as Senior Vice President for a commercial real estate company. 

 

Mike was a loving husband to Terri who loved and supported each other for more than 37 years. .He loved his family and friends, this he saw as his greatest accomplishment. He is remembered fondly for his loyalty, support, and always being "the family rock" in good times and bad.  

 

He is survived by his wife, Terri Dolan and his two children Kelly Dolan Donohue & Tom Dolan. He is also survived by his brother Kevin Dolan, sister Jane Dolan, and youngest brother Brian Dolan along with his son-in law Chris Donohue, daughter in-law Laurie Dolan and grandchildren Tiernan, Austin, Murphy, Christopher, Jack, & Nash. Michael was predeceased by his parents, John and Virginia.   

 

Michaels family will host a memorial service on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at Clark Legacy Center - Brannon Crossing receiving guests beginning at 9am with the service starting at 10am.  In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Lexington, KY. An additional service will be held in McKinney, TX on May 16th, 2023.
