Obituary of Mary Frances Cosby
Mary Frances Cosby, 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. A native of Versailles, Kentucky, Mary was born June 7, 1936, to the late Oliver Winkfield and Della May Farthing Cosby. She was both a mother and best friend to her children, working tirelessly to provide. Mary taught them to love without boundaries, to give without expectation, to forgive with their whole heart, and to serve the Lord. She was a wonderful person to everyone, she had but one way to show her love to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, to say she loved them MOST! The fondest memories that will last a lifetime were the ones Mary spent with her family on Williams Lane. Birthday parties, Easter Egg Hunts, bonfires and camping, Fourth of July picnics and fireworks, farming, gardening, and general mischief and adventures. She was the bravest and strongest woman anyone could have had the great fortune to have known. She was without a doubt, the best Momma, Mawmaw, Mawmaw Mawmaw, and friend to her family. She helped to create so many wonderful memories, but above all, a loving legacy to last for generations to come.
Mary is survived by her children, Jennifer Cosby (Norman) O’Neal of Versailles, Katrinia Cosby Reed of Versailles, Angie Cosby (Todd) Brock of Versailles, Kevin (Karen) Cosby of Lawrenceburg, Kendall (Amy Marshall) Cosby of Lawrenceburg, and Paul Garcia of Cynthiana; a sister, Florance Ethington of Lebanon; grandchildren, Misty (Austin Gill) Pelfrey, Kayla (Jorge Villarreal) Pelfrey, Matt (Tonia) McKinney, Sky (Brad) Nally, Crockett (Leann Sears) Cosby, Savannah Cosby, David (Beth) Brock, Amanda (Brent) Blevins, Jessica (Austin Rawlings) Combs, Dylan Brock, Cory Cosby, Ashley (Robert) Raker, Kody (Kristy) Cosby, Bryce Peach, Sarabeth Cosby, Jalen Marshall, Trey (Taylor Shelton) Marshall, and Ellie Marshall; great grandchildren, Jadalynn, Kason, Easton, Analisabell, Serenity, Oscar, Forest, Addileigh, Raegan, Ryleigh, River, Sophia, Hazel, Alice, Oakley, Nevaeh, Marco, Jaxon, Anna, Abby, David, and one on the way, Raziel and Runix.
In addition to her parents, Oliver Winkfield and Della May Farthing Cosby, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Allen Cosby; sisters, Ollie Maye Cosby Stapp, Trinnie Cosby Courtney, Margaret Cosby Crowe, and Ida Cosby; brothers, Samuel T. Cosby, Oliver Cosby, and Samuel B. Cosby; a granddaughter, Grace Paulee Combs; and great grandchildren, Emery Rain, Lily Rain and Mason.
A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
