Obituary of Denny Dickerson

Denny Dickerson, 61, husband of Judy Dickerson, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023. A native of Frankfort, he was born on September 21, 1961 to the late Bobby and Shirley Jamison Dickerson. Denny retired from the Kentucky Department of Library and Archives. He attended and was member of Capital City Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jeremy (Ashley) Dickerson, and Rachel (Brad) Gaunce, both of Lawrenceburg; his sister, Bobbie Jean (Ed) Browning, OH; his brother, Mike (Angela) Dickerson, Frankfort; his grandchildren, Elijah Young, Taryn Gaunce, Rylan Young, Jesse Young, Kaelyn Gaunce, and Cash Young; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Denny started singing gospel music at a young age with The Dickerson Trio consisting of his father, brother, and himself. Some years later he joined The Mel-O-Tones followed by The Harvesters, The Journeymen, and New Journey. He spent more than 10 years ministering in music with The Noblemen where he had the opportunity to stand next to men who would become family for the rest of his life. Following his ministry with The Noblemen, Denny fulfilled a lifelong dream of singing with his two children. They also called themselves The Dickersons as they traveled the tri-state area in music ministry. Denny then sang with New Vision based out of Lawrenceburg before he retired from singing.

Denny was an avid outdoorsmen and spent countless days hunting and fishing. He shared his love of the outdoors with many, having developed some of his most cherished relationships in a tree stand or on the bank of a fishing pond. His most favorite hunting and fishing buddies were his father, son, and grandchildren.

Denny was the epitome of a family man and spent as many days as he could with his family and friends. He was always available to help anyone and would give the shirt off of his back. He was dearly loved and cherished and will be greatly missed.
