Betty Lou Bowling Duty, 80, widow of Bill Duty, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and Olive Phillips Bowling on August 20, 1942.
Mrs. Duty was a stylist at Dillard's and Macy's. She was also a children’s book author. She loved spending time with her family and visiting her cabin. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stacy Newsome and Melissa Evans, both of Lexington; sister, Holly Stiltner of Portsmouth, Virginia; brothers, Charles Bowling and Tommy (Cheryl) Bowling, both of Pikeville; grandchildren, Abby Rose Evans and Jacob Newsome; great-grandchildren, Elijah Newsome and Emma Newsome; son in law, Don Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews that she adored whom all adored her in return. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jenny Cox.
May we honor her by living as she did: Not without fear but despite it; Love with our whole hearts, without conditions; And finally, find our people and hold them close for as long as we have the chance to.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Angel Tree Toys-Salvation Army or the American Cancer Society.
