Obituary of Dana Yvonne Cartwright

Dana Yvonne Cartwright, 57, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022. She was born in Lexington, KY on April 2, 1965, to Patricia Eades-Cartwright and the late Charles Cartwright. She was raised in Wilmore, KY until middle school when the family moved to Nicholasville, KY where Dana would live the rest of her life, and later in her home of almost 30 years on Chrisman Lane.  

Dana graduated from Jessamine County High School in 1983 where she was a member of the school tennis team. She enjoyed playing tennis and keeping track of several professional sports. Dana’s other hobbies included cross-stitching and many other crafts and loved to renovate her home and yard. Her favorite place on earth was the beach, she enjoyed road trips, hiking and lived life always in anticipation of the next adventure. 

Besides her mother, Pat, those left to cherish her memory include, her daughter, Sarah Warren-Sumner; her son-in-law, Chris Sumner; her niece, Lynsey Ward; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves behind a faithful canine companion, Rocky. 

In addition to her father Charles, Dana is preceded in death by her sister, Alecia Ward; and her grandparents, whom she loved dearly. 

Dana chose to be cremated, and details for a celebration of life are forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St Joseph Cancer Care Center in Lexington, KY, where she received much love and kindness during her hard-fought battle.
