Obituary of Rebecca Ann Pennie-Duncan

Rebecca Ann Pennie-Duncan went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2022. Rebecca was born on February 19, 1954 to the late Forrest Richard and Margaret Elizabeth Vest of Midway, Kentucky.

Rebecca accepted Christ as a young teenager and raised her daughter in a Christian home. She was a loving momma, granny, sister, wife, and friend. She was a member of St. John A.M.E. in Monticello, Kentucky. Where she served as Church Secretary, Missionary President, Steward and Stewardess until her death.

Rebecca worked in retail for 27 years. Where she worked 10 years at K-Mart (Lexington) and 17 years at Rite-Aid (Versailles, Somerset, and Monticello) where she retired from.

She was preceded in death by first husband Charles H. Pennie, second husband Donald S. Duncan, one sister Bonnie Jean (Vest) Southworth, one brother Charles Richard Vest, and two brothers-in-law Rickey W. Southworth and Bruce Luttrell.

She is survived by her wonderful, loving daughter Shayne N. Pennie, son-in-law Austin L. Madry, 3 beautiful grandchildren Austin Charles Richard Madry, Julia Elizabeth Madry, and Shelby Spencer Copeland all of Lexington, one sister Pamela Sue (Vest) Luttrell of Lawrenceburg, very special cousins David and Gene Combs of Lexington. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will mourn her passing.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Pastor Cathy Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as Pallbearers will be Austin L. Madry, Austin C.R. Madry, David Combs, Samantha Luttrell, and Shelby Copeland. Julia Madry will serve as an Honoray Pallbearer. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation in the name of Rebecca Pennie-Duncan or to the Diabetes Association.
