Glenda Cohorn

Obituary of Glenda Alice Gipson Cohorn

Glenda Alice Gipson Cohorn, 80, the loving wife of the late Truston Wade Cohorn, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022. A native of Franklin County, Kentucky, Glenda was born July 6, 1941, to the late Richard and Martha Barber Gipson. A faithful and active member of Oakland Christian Church for 67 years, Glenda loved serving her Lord, her family, and her community. Known to all as “Nanny”, she enjoyed baking for family gatherings and church functions where her coconut cake and oatmeal cookies would, unbeknownst to her, become famous. A very happy and prideful woman, Glenda never wanted anyone to worry over her, but kept her own mental list of family and friends that she would call daily. If you had planned a visit with her or an outing, she would call and remind you that morning, and call to make sure you made it home after, sometimes before you even had enough time to get there. A mother of all girls, she was happy to take on the job of worrying for them. Glenda loved her family more than anything else. Her husband, Wade, was her one true love. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy, holding special relationships with each of them. She enjoyed travelling, managing to visit all corners of the country, yet never drove or flew a day in her life. When she wasn’t baking, cleaning the church, visiting with her family, or fulfilling the numerous duties that come with being a devoted wife and mother, Glenda loved to read. She was a true Matriarch and will forever be missed.

Glenda is survived by her daughters, Martha (John) Edwards of Lexington, Barbara (Ronnie) Nivens of Tennessee, Tammi (Chris) Hopper of Harrodsburg, Trisha (Jim) Johnson of Owenton, and Amie (Chris) Crowe of Owenton; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Gipson of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Christie, Joshua, Kayla, Haelie, Christina, Rachelle, Devan, Kelsey, Shelbi, Brionna, and Kairie; step-grandchildren, Christopher, Catalina, Brittiany, and Rachel; her great-grandchildren, Lauren, Abigail, Truston, Lukas, Colestyn, Case, Cali, Kobie, Cooper, and Kash; and step-great-grandchildren, Aden, Philip, Charles, Adalynn, Connor, Zachary, Skylar, Landon, and Jaycee.

In addition to her loving husband, Truston Wade Cohorn, and her parents, Richard and Martha Barber Gipson, Glenda was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Gipson Lewis; brothers, Carlos Gipson and Owen Eugene Gipson; and a grandson, Jeremy Cunningham.
