Obituary of Donald Ray Fisher

Donald Ray Fisher, 74, of Lexington, died Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born February 9, 1948 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Emery Bonapart and Lola Moore Fisher. As a child, the family moved to Lexington, where Don lived for the remainder of his life. A graduate of Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky, he taught physical education for a brief time before transitioning to the Lexington Parks Department, where he ran the city pools for many years before his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, Don spent his free time golfing, fishing and hunting as well as mowing grass and piddling around the house.

He leaves behind his wife of 22 years, Patricia Kay Fisher and two step-sons, Travis (Paula) Emnett, Mason Emnett (Lee Trevathan); as well as three grandchildren whom he adored, J.T. Emnett, Brennan Emnett and Darby Emnett Trevathan.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Fisher.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lexington Humane Society.
