James was born in Lexington, Kentucky on November 21, 1953 to the late Frank and Mary Johnson Sloan. James was a business owner and a massage therapist. In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children; daughter, April (Joshua) Prince, son, James Richard (Angie Lang) Sloan II, grandchildren, Jeremiah James Prince and Sydney Sloan.
