Obituary of Samuel Robert Schaffer

Samuel Robert Schaffer, age 34, of Nicholasville, KY, entered into God’s Heavenly Kingdom on July 24th, 2021. Sam was born on October 21st, 1986 in Springfield, Illinois. He grew up in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, where he developed a love for adventure and the outdoors and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Lawrence County High School in Louisa, Kentucky where he was class president for all four years of High School, a 2004 Kentucky Governor’s Scholar, and a member of the track team, wrestling team and band. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky, began a successful career in the restaurant management industry, and was employed as a Territory Manager for US Foods. He was an outdoor enthusiast and loved hiking, camping, mountain biking, running and rock climbing. Over two summers during college, he was a white water rafting guide on the Gauley and New Rivers in West Virginia. Sam was known for his bright smile and encouraging attitude, always finding the best in everyone and every situation. He was beloved by his family and many friends. Most of all, he was a devoted and loving father to his cherished daughter.  Sam is survived by his fiancée, Heather Isaacs, his six year old daughter, Arya Lynn Schaffer, and his parents, Mary and Jeffry Schaffer, all of Nicholasville, KY. He is also survived by his sisters, Rebecca Schaffer and Bethany Schaffer, and his paternal grandmother, Marion Schaffer Day of Easton, Pennsylvania. In addition, he has a nephew, Graydon William LaFortune.  Those who knew and loved Sam are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 6:00 PM led by Pastor Kevin Cooper. The Celebration will be held at Talon Vineyards, 7086 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, Kentucky, 40515. Memorials may be made to Southland Church, Wellington Church, the Friends of the Red River Gorge, or through time spent in the beautiful Red River Gorge Sam loved so much.
