We met Jerry & Keren in early 1969. Jerry and I were two of the many UK students that worked for Watkins & Associates, just a stone’s throw from campus. We have remained close these 50+ years.
A short, early memory of Jerry was when he volunteered to help me erect a new swing set for our daughter Amy. The instructions looked simple and “easily assembled in a few hours with only a screwdriver and pliers.” With a backyard full of eagerly awaiting kids, these two engineers struggled over the next day and a half using every tool we could find. Needless to say the kids gave up long before we finished. In our defense, we studied design, not construction.
Karen and Brenda became fast friends, almost like sisters. We have vacationed together, gone to theater together (we are sophisticated you know,) and shared endless memories.
Jerry and Karen will be part of us forever.
Sam & Brenda Turner

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Cottingham though the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. I will never forget all the magnets that he brought me every time he would go on vacation. My favorite one was the one he brought me from Pikeville. We always laughed about that one. He will truly be missed. I am honored to have known him. Your family are in my prayers.
