Obituary of Lila Christine Smith

Lila “Chi” Smith, passed away at the UKMC hospital from health complications and COVID. She will be sorely missed

Lila was the middle child of Doug and Lila Harr. She was born and raised in Lexington KY. She graduated from Bryan Station High School in 1970. She was always interested in the medical field.  She received her BS in Health Information Management from EKU in 1999. She held various jobs in her field of study. 

She is survived by her younger sister Alice “Bitsy” Harr Wiggins, who lives with her family in Moncks Corner, SC. Her children, Ben Smith (Amanda), and Bonnie (Keith) McKay and grandchildren, Ethan, Willa, Emilie, and Hudson. She is preceded in death by her two older brothers, Danny and Richard “Dickie”, and younger sister, Ruth Ann.  

She was known for her thoughtfulness and generosity. She helped others even when she didn’t have much to give. She enjoyed collecting miniature things and preparing and sharing her favorite recipes.  

Lila was loved by all and will be deeply missed. Due to COVID, a private service will be held for immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be planned when it is safe to gather with all of Lila's loved ones. In remembrance of Lila’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators to help provide hospice and palliative care services for other families.
