Marjorie was my Aunt (my mother's older sister). My daughter, Holly Elizabeth, was named after her great Aunt Marjorie Elizabeth and she was always interested in how her "namesake" was doing.
Although I didn't grow up living close to my Aunt Marjorie, I remember her visits throughout the years with her son Alan. Her last visit was in 2019 when she was approaching 90 years old, although we weren't exactly sure of her age because she didn't like to discuss it! She laughed a lot and said funny things, like when I asked her if she joined the activities at her Assisted Living Facility she responded "no because I don't want other people knowing my business".
We have lost someone special. You will be missed Aunt Marjorie.

Marjorie Herring was my aunt, on my mother's side. She was a southern lady, but also a character...with a glint in her eye. She loved to laugh and we would often chuckle together. One fond memory of Aunt Marjorie was at my 60th BD celebration. She brought a bottle of wine, as a gift, and spent quite a bit of time locating a bottle opener so she could drink it. She did love her wine...and she did love others and showed it in many ways. Here's to you Aunt Marjorie....love you.

Marjorie was my older sister and she was a beautiful person. I will miss her presence in my life. Although she did everything slowly, she was always ready to go anywhere with any of us and always added to the fun. I remember when she got her first job as a “ticket agent” at the one and only theatre in Clover. My 2 brothers and I though this meant she would give us free tickets to get in for shows. She absolutely refused even when we threatened to put nails in her bicycle tires or cut holes in her dresses. She said that “constituted aggressive behavior and we would be banned from future attendance”. I was shocked she knew such big words and gave up trying to get in free. Marjorie loved her glass of wine at 5pm everyday and this ritual needed to be observed. When she visited me in CA at the age of 90, I willingly followed her desire but like everything else, she drank slowly. Marjorie was fun and funny. She enjoyed the simple things in life and most of all, she enjoyed being with her family. She was loved and loved in return. What could be better than that?
