Obituary of Andrew Pungratz Jr

<b>Georgetown, Kentucky</b> Andrew Pungratz, Jr. 83, died Friday, March 21, 2014. He was born September 26, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Katherine (Tumpa) Pungratz. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Pungratz; sons, Paul (Cheri) Pungratz, Andrew (Ruthie) Pungratz and Stanley Pungratz; grandchildren Audra Lorraine "Rainee" Pungratz, Andrew Grahm "Drew" Pungratz, Jody (Richard) Galvan, Reagan Atchison and Nicholas Atchison and great grandchild Josh Galvan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorraine Giancola Pungratz and sister Katherine Golden. At 17, his parents signed a consent form for Andy to join the Navy during the Korean War. In the three years and eleven months he served, he served on two different sub tenders; the USS Howard W. Gilmore and the USS Orion. Afterwards, Andy got a job at Chalmers working as a laborer; then a millwright. After 10 years, he left Chambers and went to work for National Casket Company, where he became President and opened a plant in Lancaster, KY in 1964. Later, he worked for Aydin-Raytor. During that time, he got his pilots license and bought a Piper Cherokee which he enjoyed flying. He continued to work for Aydin-Raytor until he retired to take care of Lorraine "Honey" when she became ill with cancer. Later years were spent playing golf, traveling and playing games of chance, where sometimes he won...and sometimes, he did not. <b>Funeral Information</b> Visitation will be from 11am-1pm, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing with a service to follow at 1pm. Burial will take place at 2:30 pm. Tuesday, March 25th at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pastor DeWayne Brewer will be conducting the services.
