Obituary of Bernard W "Bernie" Aydt

<b>Lexington, Kentucky</b> Bernard ("Bernie") William Aydt, 83, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky and Port Orange, Florida, died Sunday November 23 in <b>Lexington, Kentucky</b>. He was predeceased by Zola, his wife of 63 years, and his parents, Katherine and Lawrence Aydt of Dahlgren, Illinois. He is survived by his children: Michael Aydt, Kenneth Aydt (Kathy), John Aydt, Janet Craig (Jim), and Mary Catherine Niner (Keith); his grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Craig, Megan Craig Bauman (Adam), Jessica Niner Bain (Matthew), Rebecca Niner, Cody Aydt and Jack Aydt; his great grandsons Noah Bain and James Bauman; his brother Paul L. Aydt and his sister Ruth Karcher. Bernie was active in many civic organizations including JACEES, Lions Club of America, and Knights of Columbus. He was a life long democrat. He graduated from the University of Evansville with a BS in business and served in the US Air Force. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife and friends in Florida including many cruises and trips with old friends. He loved bird watching and spending time at his lake house at Lake Malone for many years. He had a dry sense of humor that will be missed by all who knew him. <b>Funeral Information</b> A memorial and mass will be held by the family for friends in the spring of 2015 in Dahlgren, Illinois where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Zola. The family would like to express its appreciation to the staffs of ClareBridge and Richmond Place for their care of Bernie in his last months.
