Obituary of J. Kelley Hutcherson

<b>Versailles, Kentucky</b> Versailles- J. Kelley Hutcherson died on December 22 in Versailles following an illness. He was 83. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Jane Carr Hutcherson of Versailles; daughter Kate Robie (and her husband, Ed) and son John K. Hutcherson Jr. of Versailles; daughter Eve Hutcherson of Nashville; six grandchildren: Amanda Sayles (and her husband, Brad), Jack Robie (and his wife, Maggie); Annie Hutcherson; Meg Robie; and Kelley and Emily Purpus; and two great-grandchildren, Harlan and Lida Jane Sayles. He was preceded in death by daughter Jane Hutcherson Purpus of Bowling Green. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ambie Hutcherson of Vero Beach, Fla., and six nieces and nephews. Hutcherson was a native of Louisville, Ky., but made his home in Versailles and Woodford County since 1975. He retired from a long, successful career in executive sales management for International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) and was widely recognized as a mentor of young sales executives. The sales teams he led won national recognition within the company multiple times. He was an avid golfer for nearly 70 years, scoring five holes-in-one over his lifetime and winning tournaments in Louisville and Lexington, including as a partner with his father, the late Dr. J. Bernard Hutcherson of Louisville. In the community, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Pisgah Presbyterian Church, and the Versailles Presbyterian Church, where he had been a member in recent years. Hutcherson was a 1948 graduate of Louisville Male High School and 1952 graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. He was a veteran of the United States Naval Reserve and served as a special services officer during the Korean conflict, posted at the U. S. Naval Base in the Philippine Islands. <b>Funeral Information</b> He will be buried at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville. The family will receive visitors at Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Versailles from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
