<b>Online Obituaries for Lexington, Frankfort, and Versailles KY</b> Frankfort - Gerhard Ernst Nikolaus, 89, died Wednesday December 31st, 2014 at his home in Frankfort. He was born in Koenigsberg, Germany on September 10, 1925 to the late Ernst and Erna Stobbe Nikolaus. Gerhard was a man of faith and loved his God Jehovah with his whole heart. He was a member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Frankfort, Kentucky. His mother Erna was imprisoned in a concentration camp for her belief and faith as a Jehovah's witness. Gerhard met his wife, Hermine, in 1945 and he served as special pioneer with his wife for many years.They had twin daughters in 1958, Esther Anni Froseth, of Frankfort and Ruth Erna Groessler and her husband Holger of Louisville. After the birth of their children, they moved to Australia. Gerhard was educated as an engineer and owned his own engineering firm. He was a multi-talented speaker, writer, and avid reader and bible teacher. In 1996 he moved from Germany to Louisville to be closer to his family. He was always a very kind, generous, loving and zealous man. He always preached the good news of the kingdom until the day he passed. Gerhard's two grandchildren, Tom Groessler and his wife Janet, of Chesterfield Virginia and their daughter, Lexi and Candy Johnson and her husband Ryan of Frankfort, Kentucky, along with their children, Kai, Ryder, and Jordan Johnson, brought much joy and laughter to his life. His family looks forward to welcoming him back in perfect health and youth in paradise very soon. Gerhard was preceded in death by his wife Hermine and by his great grandson Peanut Groessler.
