Obituary of Berneice "Chris" Earl Noonan

Lexington, Kentucky Berneice Christopher NOONAN (Chris) passed peacefully and gracefully into her eternity on January 5, 2014. Born August 15, 1918 in Madison County, she resided in Richmond until she moved to Louisville in 1945. In 1949 she met and married her husband James William Noonan, who preceded her in death in 1970. Chris and Jim had a love for the water and began a lifelong involvement in conducting and officiating powerboat racing across the USA that they passed on to their sons. Chris moved to Lexington in 1989 to be closer to her grandchildren. Chris began her career as a nurse for the Norton School of Nursing, spent time as a homemaker raising her three children, and returned to work where she retired from her position as a continuing education instructor with Norton's Hospital, Louisville, in 1983. She is survived by sons J. Michael (Joyce) and William T. Noonan, a daughter Sandra N. (Mike) Besten and grandchildren Christopher B. (Elizabeth) and Cassilly B. Besten and James M. (Katie) Noonan, plus great-grandchildren Anna Besten and Grace Noonan and a host of nieces and nephews - all of whom will greatly miss her indomitable spirit, easy fun company and infectious laugh. For the past three years Chris' life was enriched, enhanced and enjoyed by living at the Ashland Terrace, a lovely home for independent ladies. To Ric, Kelly and all the employees and residents go a special thanks on behalf of Chris and her family - you guys are so appreciated and Sandy and Cassie in particular will miss you greatly. Chris has asked that we donate her Bingo quarters back to the home with her apologies for amassing such an embarrassing fortune. Funeral Information A private memorial service for family will be held in Louisville. A celebration of life will be held January 18th, 3 pm to 6 pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville, Ky.
