Obituary of Paul E Grimes

<b>Frankfort, KY</b> Paul E. Grimes, 84, widower, of Stella U. Grimes, passed away on June 24, 2015, at the Golden Living Center of <b>Frankfort, KY</b>. A native of <b>Frankfort, KY</b>, he was born May 5, 1931, to the late Edmund Grimes and Thelma Willis Grimes. In addition to his parents, Mr. Grimes, was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Stella U. Grimes, his oldest sister, Virginia Whisman and a nephew, Darryl Harp. Mr. Grimes is survived by his youngest sister, Shirley (Haskell) Harp of Frankfort; a daughter, Judith Grimes of Nashville, TN; a son, Daniel (Cathryn) Grimes of Frankfort; a grandson, Scott (Ashley) Ashburn of Versailles, KY; two (2) nephews, Billy (Elsie) and Rodney (Barbara) Whisman of Shelbyville, KY and a niece, Cheryl Harp Gay of Frankfort. Additional survivors included twelve (12) great nieces and great nephews along with two (2) great granddaughters. Mr. Grimes was proud of the fact that as a child he had a perfect attendance record throughout his twelve (12) years of schooling in the Frankfort City school system. Mr. Grimes was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and carried the designation of being an "Atomic Veteran". He served in the U.S. Navy from December 28, 1950, until his honorable discharge on October 22, 1954. During his service to his country Mr. Grimes served as a gunner mate aboard the USS Curtiss AV-4, where he received a National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Grimes retired after 37 year of employment with the Frankfort Plant Board and was a founding member of the Cornerstone Nazarene church, Louisville Road, Frankfort. Paul was an integral part of church administration throughout his life. Paul will be remembered as a quiet, strong, honest, hardworking husband, father, brother, uncle, coworker, church member and a loyal friend to all that had the honor of knowing him. <b>Funeral Information</b> Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday June 27, 2015 at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Howard Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00pm- 8:00pm Friday June 26, 2015 at the church.
