Obituary of Tom Blankenship

<b>Obituary</b> Tom Blankenship, 72, of Frankfort, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 after a brief illness. Mr. Blankenship was born in Nashville, TN to the late Tom A. and Clemma L. Blankenship. He is survived by his partner, Stephanie Robey of Frankfort, KY; daughter, Gayle Blankenship and granddaughter, Katrina Blankenship of Harrodsburg, KY; sister, Carol J. Schubert of Nashville, TN; and brother, Dr. Edward S. Blankenship of Manhattan, NY. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Ann Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was an alumnus of West End High School, Nashville, TN as well as of the University of Kentucky. He had an illustrious career in the American Saddlebred Horse industry as a trainer and breeder of numerous world champions at his beloved Sheragay Farm in Lexington, KY. In addition to his long career in the show horse industry, Mr. Blankenship was an active real estate developer and entrepreneur in both Kentucky and Tennessee. He loved his Kentucky Wildcats, Keeneland, the Derby, vanilla ice cream, and his 'Ole Kentucky Home' in Frankfort. Mr. Blankenship, a true gentleman with a profound love of nature, lived with dignity and purpose and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
