Obituary of Meyer Preston McDaniel

Lexington, Kentucky Meyer Preston McDaniel, son of Joey and Sara, passed away peacefully in their arms and surrounded by family on Saturday, Sept 6, 2014 at Kosair Children's Hospital. Meyer was born July 23, 2014 with several congenital heart defects. Our boy fought so tough for 45 days through numerous surgeries and procedures, he had a caring team of doctors and nurses that he surprised everyday. "Super Meyer" had a powerful impact on so many lives in such a short time. Some days were filled with tears and pain and others filled with smiles, laughter and the joy that only a baby can bring. In Meyer's short life he met many friends and family, and had a one month birthday party. He listened and looked around as we surrounded his bed, read stories, talked to him and told him countless times how loved he is and always will be. We covered him with kisses everyday, rubbed his soft head and held his tiny hands in ours. We brushed his hair, helped with his baths, blanket changes, diaper changes and even gave him a green mohawk one afternoon. Meyer taught us patience and that we aren't in control. He reminded us all how important it is to live in the moment and to be grateful for what we have. He showed us how important it is to help others and to always hold space in our hearts for others. Surviving besides his parents are his grandparents; Greg and Ruth Plowe, Randy and Vanessa McDaniel, Charlie Gokey, his aunts and uncles; Evan McDaniel, Reid McDaniel, Zach Plowe, and Brittany McDaniel, his great grandparents; Donna Bybee, Katheryn Gokey, Russell and Jane Curd, and Dottie and Joe Gall, his great aunts and uncles; Dale McDaniel, Dennis and Veronica McDaniel, Maxie and Grace Puckett, Cliff and Melissa Curd, Lynne and Rick Stephan, Cindy and Brian Hosmer, Jeff and Wanda Plowe, and Tammy and Joey Gall, and Marcia Haggley-Bhattacharya; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his 5 great grandfathers; Lee Bybee, Charles Gokey, Jr., Fred Plowe, Joe Preston McDaniel, and Kurt Eickhoff, his great grandmother; Virginia McDaniel, his great great grandmother; Elaine Robinson, his great great grandfather; Clifton Robinson and his great aunt; Patricia Ward. The prayers and amazing support of family and friends will never be forgotten. FLY HIGH SWEET ANGEL. Funeral Information A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept 13th at Veterans Park in Lexington, KY.
