Obituary of Katherine "Katie" Purvis Russell

<b>Online Obituaries for Frankfort, KY</b> FRANKFORT- Katherine "Katie" Purvis Russell, 84, entered Heavens gates on Sunday, March 9, 2014. She was born on December 20, 1929 to the late Lorene and Marvin O. Purvis in Henry County, Kentucky. A loving mother and homemaker, Katie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was also a big fan of Kentucky and Gonzaga Basketball, and every Ice Hockey game she could watch. Katie retired from the Federal Government US Department of Agriculture. She also had an unwavering faith in God and Jesus Christ our Lord. Katie was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. Katie is survived by her two sons, Brad (Gayla) Russell, Stamping Ground and David Russell (Laura Nelson) Lexington; two grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Russell, Georgetown and Elizabeth Russell, Stamping Ground; one great granddaughter, Allison Russell; her sisters, Pearl James, Crestwood, Dorothy "Dot" Campbell, Lousiville, Linda Detwiler, Frankfort, and Julie (Steve) Stefanovich, NC; one brother, Joe (Kathy) Purvis, Louisville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Bessie Raymer; and her brothers in law, Orville James, John Campbell and Sam Raymer. <b>Funeral Information</b> A Celebration of Life Service will be 1pm Friday, March 21, 2014 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Bro. Bruce Breeding officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10am Friday until the time of service.
