Obituary of Hazel Lay McKinney

<b>Online Obituaries for Lexington, Frankfort, and Versailles KY</b> Versailles - Hazel Lay McKinney, 71, widow of James "Hard Hat" McKinney, died at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado, on Thursday, June 19, 2014. She was born in Versailles, Kentucky on November 3, 1942 to the late Logan and Ida Hicks Lay. Ms. McKinney was employed for many years as a CMA at Taylor Manor Nursing Home. She is survived by her daughters, Rita McKinney Penrod, of Versailles; Pam Gilpin, of Nicholasville; Francis Watkins, of Willisburg; her sons, Paul McKinney, of Colorado; Karl McKinney, of Washington; her sister, Shirley Hamilton, of Versailles; her brother, Coy Lay, of Versailles; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Dale McKinney. <b>Funeral Information</b> Services will be 10AM, Thursday, June 26, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill with Brother Gilbert Sargent officiating. Burial will follow in Versailles Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Jeff Penrod, Paul McKinney, Karl McKinney, Blake Penrod, Bob Johnson, and Bobbie Johnson. Visitation will be 5-8PM Wednesday, June 25 at the funeral home.
