Obituary of Ernest E "Sandy" Sandstrom

<b>Frankfort, Kentucky</b> Sandstrom, Ernest E. "Sandy", 86, was married to Frances Wilkins for 66 years, died September 16, 2013 at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY. He was born in Galva, IL, January 3, 1927 to the late Ernest A. and Alice (Crerar) Sandstrom. He was a former resident of Kewanee, IL; Carrier Mills, IL; Evansville, IN; and Frankfort, KY. Mr. Sandstrom was a WWII veteran. He was also retired from Peabody Coal Company, Will Scarlett Mine in Stonefort, IL where he was an electrician and a member of the United Mine Workers. He is also survived by a son, Michael (Diana) Sandstrom of Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Sandra (Michael) Duvall of Frankfort, KY; five grandchildren, Christy Sandstrom of Knoxville, TN; Tiffany Sandstrom of Charlotte, NC; Alison (Shane) Bennett, April Duvall, and Adam Duvall all of Frankfort; and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Sandstrom is preceded in death by a brother, Axel; one sister, Helen Stumphy, and two infant children. <b>Funeral Information</b> In honoring his wishes, Mr. Sandstrom will be cremated and there will be no services.
