Obituary of William Thomas Lackey

<b>Frankfort</b> William Thomas Lackey, 85, husband of the late Arzella H. Lackey, died Sunday, November 3, 2013. He was a retired accountant for Kentucky State University, a member of First Baptist Church in Stanford, KY and a graduate of Kentucky State University. Mr. Lackey was also a veteran of the United States 505th Air Infantry Division of Fort Bragg, NC (Army 82nd Airborne) during the Korean conflict and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was also a very active member in the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Urban League and the Kentucky State University Alumni Association. He is survived by his two children, Ariana Lackey and Wendell (Abby) Lackey; his grandchildren, Aaron, Emily and Sean; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife of over 40 years, he is preceded in death by his mother, Gracie Lackey; father, Cornelius Whitley; and sisters, Mary Griffin and Gertrude Searcy. <b>Funeral Information</b> Visitation will be 11AM until 1PM Saturday, November 9, 2013 at St. John A.M.E Church, 210 W. Clinton Street, <b>Frankfort</b>, KY 40601. Funeral Service will follow at 1PM with Rev. Dr. Robert A. Strode officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Pierre Whitley, Michael Whitley, Sr., William R. Fisher, Jr., Mark Smith, George "D.J." Adams and Aaron Lackey-Stewart.
