Obituary of Donald E. Sheckels Jr.

<b>Obituary</b> Donald E. Sheckels, Jr., 68, of Lexington, Kentucky and the husband of Jeanne Strunk Sheckels, died Sunday, February 12, 2012. He was born September 6, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Donald E. and Theresa Benzinger Sheckels, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, was an architect for Gray Construction and a member of New Life Christian Church. He loved painting, photography and researching his family history. In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his daughter, Allison Taylor (Landy) Townsend of Wake Forest, NC; grandsons, John, Ben and Will Townsend; sister-in-law, Tammy (Mark) Isaacs of Nicholasville, KY; brother-in-law, Alan (Ida) Strunk of Pine Knot, KY; half brother, Donald Sherwood Sheckels of Michigan; aunts, Joan Buck and June Fleming, both of Kenosha, WI; special niece and nephew, Holly and Darren Isaacs, both of Nicholasville, KY; Godchild, Carmen Wells of Lexington, KY; and very special friend and therapy dog, "Ralphie." In honor of Donald's life and legacy, donations can be made in his memory to D.A.V. Chapter 1, 689 Kingston Road, Lexington, KY 40505. <b>Funeral Information</b> Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Clark Legacy Center. Funeral will be 11:30 am, Friday, February 17, 2012, also at Clark Legacy Center, followed by burial at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Honorary casketbearers will be Max Biddle, John McDonnell, Dan Phillips, David Crickard, John Thorne and Stephanie Gilbert.
