Obituary of Tereza Guzik

Tereza Guzik, 85, passed away on April 27,  after battling several health issues. Her final hours were spent peacefully at home surrounded by family that loved and cared for her.

Tereza was born on July 30, 1938, to the late Hipolito and Ana Moskalewicz who emigrated war torn Poland following WWII. Having lost everything, they purchased passage to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the hopes of a new beginning.

Life was definitely challenging, but Tereza was determined to create a life she loved. After graduating school, she secured a job at The Bank of London / South America in Curitiba. She eventually met and married her sweetheart, Tadeu Guzik. Soon after, they decided to embark on an adventure and relocated to the USA to begin a new life. They settled in New Jersey and worked hard for many years, built a family and pursued their dreams. Possessing family ties in two distinct countries had its predicaments so they lived between the US and Brazil for several years. Ultimately,  they chose to live out their final years in Georgetown, KY.

Tereza loved her family, gathering with friends, helping others, caring for all animals and traveling. 

Tereza is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Sam) Battaglia; her son, Tim Martins; her brother, Mike (Luci) Moskalewicz; her grandchildren, Caitlin Battaglia, Gabrielle Battaglia, Timothy Martins, Nicholas Martins, Sarah Martins; her great grandchildren, Carter Martins and Dominic Martins; her bonus granddaughter, Samantha (Dustin) Reed and bonus great granddaughters, Aspen Reed, Ember Reed, Oakley Reed, and River Reed.  Tereza was preceded in death by her husband, Tadeu Guzik and her two sisters, Anastacia Polega and Margo Moskalewicz. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to Bluegrass Care Navigators hospice team for all the care and comfort provided during the past year. We would also like to thank her caregivers and all the friends and family that took the time to call and check on her.

A memorial service will be held for immediate family members at a later date.
