June Whitlow

Obituary of June Hawkins Whitlow

June Whitlow made her transition peacefully at home on April 18, 2024, surrounded by people who loved her. June was born on September 17, 1937, in Nelson County, Ky

June was one of the world’s special people. She lived a life filled with joy and laughter, mischief and incredibly hard work. She adored and was adored by her children and grandchildren who loved celebrating her milestone birthdays at inaccessible cabins that didn’t seem to be on the gps. Thanksgiving holidays belonged to June and woe betide you if you could not be there. June preferred to have the entire family in the same room for the entire holiday; personal space was not one of her needs.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Cannon Hawkins and Lela Adams Hawkins, her siblings Mozelle (WM) Colvin, Ralph (Mary Lois) Hawkins, Jimmy (Betty Lee) Hawkins and Don (Bonnie) Hawkins, her beloved grandson Eddie Whitlow and her dear friend Ginger Davis. She is survived by her sister Nelda (Dick) Keith, her children Chuck (Vickie) Whitlow, Pat Whitlow, Amy Whitlow (who provided the most loving and meticulous caregiving and for whom her siblings feel the deepest gratitude and love), Tom (Laura) Whitlow, Jim (Doris) Whitlow and her 9 treasured grandchildren: Bill (Morgan), Suzanne, Jolie, Ellery, Lindsey (Tolik), Megan, Katie (Nik), Matt (Eliza), Emma and three darling great-grandchildren.

June was the founder and owner of G&J Janitorial and was a founding member, along with her dear friend Betty Elrod, of Ahava Center for Spiritual Living. The family wishes to acknowledge her soul sister Pat Delgado, her faithful Survivor watching buddy Kathy Kleingartner, her honorary daughter Kari Stevens and many thanks to her special friend and caregiver Nancy Ison.
