Obituary of James "Jim" Franklin Thompson

James "Jim" Franklin Thompson, 70, husband of Celia Thompson, passed away on April 19, 2024 in Lexington.  Jim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 3, 1953 to Betty-Lorine Thompson-Schrier and the late James Robert Thompson. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree and Michigan State University with a Masters of Labor and Industrial Relations. He worked as an Employee Relations Manager for many years in Versailles, Kentucky.  As a long time member of First Christian Church of Versailles, he served as Trustee and former Elder and Board Chair. He enjoyed traveling, mission work, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his wife and mother, Jim is survived by his children, Rob (Ashlee) Thompson and Stefanie (Joe) Wiley; granddaughters, Charlotte Wiley, Eloise Wiley, and Rylee Thompson; siblings, Michael (Madeline) Thompson and Janet Thompson; and numerous extended family members. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Jim on June 1, 2024 at 4:00 pm at First Christian Church of Versailles at 160 Lexington Street.  Visitation will start at 3:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mr. Jim Thompson to First Christian Church of Versailles.
