Obituary of Susan Darlene Jenkins Jones

Susan Darlene Jones (nee Jenkins), aged 62, passed away peacefully on March 31st, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, in hospice care in Danville, KY. She was born on October 24, 1961, the cherished daughter of the late Silas and Betty Jenkins of Versailles, KY.

Susan is survived by her loving son, Chad Jenkins of Indianapolis, IN; her dear sister, Jeanette Long of Danville, KY; her brother, Mark (Debbie) Jenkins of Las Vegas, NV; her niece, Rebecca Long of Danville, KY; her nephew, Cody Gongora of Georgetown, KY; and husband, Richard Jones.

Susan was a woman of boundless compassion and unwavering kindness. Her dedication to serving her community was exemplified through her career as a Supervisor at Woodford County Animal Control, where she worked tirelessly from 2004 to 2023. During her tenure, Susan's leadership and passion for animal welfare made a profound impact on the lives of countless animals in need. Her commitment to their well-being was unwavering, and her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Susan found solace and serenity in the natural world, particularly by the ocean. She cherished moments spent seaside with loved ones, watching the waves and listening to the soothing sounds of nature. In addition to her love for the ocean, Susan had a fascination with geodes and loved spending time with the horses at Airdrie Stud. She spent countless hours admiring natural wonders, marveling at the beauty and complexity of the Earth's creations.

Susan's greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her beloved family and friends. Whether it was sharing laughter over a meal, exploring new places together, or simply enjoying each other's company, Susan treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.

In accordance with her wishes, a public visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill Ave, in Versailles, KY on Friday, April 5th, 2024 from 3p – 7p, followed by cremation. Susan's ashes will be spread in the ocean, fulfilling her lifelong connection and love for the sea. All who knew and loved Susan are invited to join in honoring her remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Woodford County Animal Control and/or Heritage Hospice (Danville, KY), in Susan's honor.

Susan will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for all living beings. Though she may be gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
