Janet Elaine (Macke) Dobson, 82, passed away on Wed., April 17, 2024, in Lexington, KY. She was born on June 24, 1941, at which time she was the only child of the late Joseph and Vivian (Rech) Macke of Ft. Wright, KY. Jan is the widow of SSGT Jack Dobson (Air Force Vet). At an early age, Jan decided on her number one career choice to be a teacher for Special Ed students like her Aunt Emma had taught. Many years ago at the age of six, Jan began taking ballet lessons. By the end of middle school, it was obvious to her teacher, Rita O’Neill (in Cincinnati) that Jan was given a “God given talent”. Rita decided that a male student would make a good partner for Jan and a “pair” was born.
“To dance in a professional dance company “became a choice shortly thereafter, the “pair” was hired by the Paris, France Ballet Co. Then on Aug. 8, 1959, Jan was in a bad car wreck in which two lumbar were crushed, ending her dream! As a result, Jan retired from the FCPS. No services are planned. A private committal will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
