Obituary of Angela Sherlene Kersey

Lexington, Kentucky – Angela Sherlene Cheek Kersey, 56, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 16th, 1967 in Newport News, VA to her mother, Marguerite Hayden Taylor and to the late Robert Lee Cheek, Jr. Angela was raised in Nicholasville, KY and  graduated from Jessamine County High School in 1985. She was percussionist in the Jessamine County High School Marching Band. When she was six, she joined East Maple Street Christian Church, and began her relationship with God. 

Angela was a devoted family person, who found joy in serving those around her. She found purpose in not only serving her family, but in serving anyone who needed care. She was a selfless caregiver, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a woman that instilled hope in others, led people to find their purpose, and encouraged others to live their lives at its fullest potential.

She is survived by her mother, Marguerite Hayden Taylor; husband, Michael Kersey; son, Gabriel Cheek; sister Greta Cheek; sister Jacqueline Brown (Charles), brother Marcus Cheek; and brother Mario Cheek (Norreasha); and a host of several nieces and nephews.

Angela was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Cheek, Jr.

Visitation for Angela be held on ​Sunday, May 19, 2024from 1-2 PM at Clark Legacy Funeral Home located at 601 East Brannon Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356. The Service will start at 2 PM. While flowers are welcome, another way to memorialize Angela would be to find your purpose in life, enjoy your loved ones, and have fun while doing it.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Angela will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
