Jo “JoDee” Schreiner Layman, 83, passed away peacefully at Taylor Manor after many years of struggling with Alzheimer’s. She was married to Thomas Layman for 65 years. They had two daughters, Laura (Ryan) Sell and Dessa DiGeronenio, six grandkids, Robert and Sydney Sell and Dominic, Dante, Dane and Delaney DiGeronenio, and a great grandson, Cooper Sell.

JoDee was born and raised in the west end of Louisville to Muriel and Pete Schreiner. She graduated from Shaunee High School and married Tom. They moved to Lexington where Tom graduated from the University of Kentucky. After graduation, they moved to Frankfort where they raised their two girls, JoDee went to college and graduated with her nursing degree from Kentucky State University and became a Registered Nurse. She worked in Shelbyville and Frankfort and became known as the “Shot Lady” for Dr. Bob Blair, Pediatrician.

JoDee was very active in Frankfort, especially with the United Methodist Women, Girl Scouts, the University of Kentucky Extension Service, and Frankfort Women’s Club.

Unfortunately, she developed Alzheimer's in her early 60’s and required a lot of special assistance. She will be cremated and buried in the Graefenburg Cemetery near where she lived.
