Obituary of Judy Kay Abney

Judy K. Abney, 68, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky. Judy was born on April 8, 1955, to Joseph and Wanda Kimbrell Young in Hamilton, Ohio.  

Judy was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Versailles. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crosswords. Judy loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her greatest joy was her family, as she had so much love for them! 

Judy is survived by her loving husband for 43 years, Howard Abney of Versailles; two daughters, Kim (Dwight Sparks) Hudson, Wanda (Aaron) Abney, sister Nancy Cheek, and Hattie Chaney of Portland Oregon; grandchildren, Kayla Hudson, Taylor Wilson, Jacob Sparks, Colton Sparks; great-grandchildren, Isiah Wilson, Trent Richardson, Elowyn Kinder, and Luca Kinder.  

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Betty Biddle, Linda Young, Peggy Hensley, Connie Young, David Young, and Jimmy Young.  

A visitation will take place at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Versailles, Ky on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, beginning at 10 am until time of the service at noon. The funeral service will be held with Bro. Curtis Coots to officiate at 12pm on Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers to her final resting spot, Jacob Sparks, Colton Sparks, Jacorey Berry, Steven Abney, Raymond Abney, and Justin Kinder.
