Obituary of Jon Michael Winkler

 

Jon Michael Winkler, 79, husband of Janet Brown Winkler, passed away peacefully at his home in Versailles, KY, on Nov. 17, 2023. Born June 17, 1944 in Ellettsville, IN, Jon was the son of Clara "Dot" Harris Winkler of Ellettsville, IN and the late Howard Winkler. Jon was a Freemason for over 52 years. He belonged to Lodge #245 in Ellettsville, IN and was a past Master of Buford Lodge #494 in Midway, KY. Jon loved to travel with Janet and enjoyed watching Nascar and the Indy 500 Race. He was also an avid reader, he liked to listen to music and play cards with his friends. Jon was a hard worker receiving several awards for selling cars and financing through Glenn Nissan. His goal was to work until 80. He was a member of Journey Church in Versailles. Along with his wife and mother, Jon is survived by four daughters, Shana (Tony) Diekhoff, Stephanie (Jack) Miller, Shelby (Bill) Teasley, and Shara (Grant) Duncan, all of IN; one step-son Bryan (Jennifer) Jefferson of Paris, KY; three sisters, Cinda (Donnie) Crum, Susie Knust (Carl Salyers), and Avis (Kent) Goldman, all of IN; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and neices.

Jon was preceded in death by his niece, Charity Knust and grandson Jake Chitwood. A graveside service and burial of cremated remains will be 1:00 PM, Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Presbyterian Cemetery, 1319 W. Temperance St., Elletsville, IN 47429.
