Obituary of Wanda Gay
Wanda Jean Poe Gay, 83, passed away on November 5, 2023, after a long illness. She was born on July 29, 1940, to the late Lawrence and Edna Mae Whitton Poe in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Wanda Honored God with her life as a Proverbs 31 woman. She devoted her life to her husband and her family. Randall and Wanda spent their winters in Florida and enjoyed the warm sunshine and fishing on Lake Istokpoga. She loved to cross stitch, sew, collect bird houses (over 800), and go to yard sales and festivals around Kentucky, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. You would always find her supporting and cheering on her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; at birthdays, ballgames, graduations, dances, proms, first sermons, concerts, parties, recitals, showers, and weddings. If it was important to a family member, it was important and a priority to her. Randall and Wanda were members and servants of Thornhill Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved her church and serving alongside her Ruth Sunday School Class.
In addition to her loving husband of almost 67 years, James Randall Gay, Wanda is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Gay (Mike) Cummins, Diana Gay (Craig Hassa) Delgiacco, and Tammy Gay (PK) Spratt; six grandchildren, Mike, Kevin (Valerie), Amanda, and Zachary (Heather); and nine great grandchildren, Megan, Kaelie, Grace, Colin, Bradly, Madilynn, Addie, JB and Baker.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Edna Mae Whitton Poe, as well as her brothers, Mason Poe, Sr and Ronald Poe, Sr, and two granddaughters, Chrystal (Carl) and Erika (Kevin).
A Funeral Service will be held 12:00pm, on Friday, November 10, 2023, at The Point at Thornhill Community Church, 1142 Holmes Street, Frankfort, Kentucky, with Pastor Andy Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service on Friday, at the church. A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Versailles Rd, Frankfort.
