Obituary of Judith Anne Whitehead

Judith Anne Whitehead, 83, widow of C. Samuel Whitehead, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was born in Ashland, KY on March 21, 1940. She is preceded in death by her parents, Verna and Charles Adams, and all three of her siblings, Bonnie Sagraves, Larry Adams, and Charles Gary Adams.

Judy and her husband, Sam, were avid UK football fans and sponsors, and provided a home away from home for several football players including Rod Stewart, Derrick Ramsey, and Robb Chaney.

Judy was a member of Word of Hope Lutheran Church and had worked at Macy’s for many years and remained friends with her coworkers after she stopped working. During the last decade of her life, Judy lived at Ashland Terrace and Liberty Ridge Senior Living Community and enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow residents and staff. Judy had a host of friends who loved her and will miss her. Especially close were Mo Wheeler, Sue Russell, Missy Maize, Nancy Potter, Misty McMullen, and Peggy Simpson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Abe Fosson; her daughter, Melani Fosson (Jim Versaw); three stepchildren, John Dawson Whitehead, Jenny Murphy, Grayson Munson, and their spouses; five grandchildren, Olivia (Tyler) Weidel, Kory Fosson, Kyle Fosson, Kelsi Fosson, and Samantha Hayden Whitehead; two great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Jane Rinaldi; her brother-in-law, Harry Sagraves, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Judy is planned for Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the home of Melani and Jim, 2916 Jason Court, Lexington from 3- 6 p.m.

Donations in Judy’s memory may be made to Ashland Terrace, Liberty Ridge Senior Living Community, or the UK Markey Cancer Center.
