Obituary of Shirley Ann Johnson

Shirley Ann Johnson, 87, widow of Richard A. Johnson, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Clearwater, Minnesota, on September 18, 1936. Shirley moved with her family at a young age to Belvidere, Illinois; graduating from Belvidere High School in 1954. Shirley spent many years working for General Telephone as a telephone operator and later in repair/dispatch.  After retirement, Shirley and Richard lived in Tampa, Florida; Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Wilmore, Kentucky having enjoyed 63 years of marriage.  

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Hoppe, Diane (Robert) Morgan; grandchildren, Mary (Jeff) Novotny, Jason (Shanell) Hoppe, Daniel (Megan) Johnson, Connor (Lorraine) Morgan; and great-grandson Mason Hoppe; as well as several step-grandchildren and one step great grandchild.  Also survived by sisters-in-law Carolyn Barnum and Sandy Barnum and many loving nieces and nephews.  

Besides her husband, Richard, Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite Barnum; her son, Douglas Johnson; sisters, Betty (Mel) Robertson, Bee (Carl) Warner and infant sister, Eloris; in addition to her brothers, Bob (Lynn) Barnum, Clair Barnum, and Don Barnum.  

Graveside service will be Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10:30am at the Highland Garden of Memories Chapel, 9800-IL 76, Belvidere, IL 61008.
