Obituary of Joseph W. Anderson

Joseph W. Anderson, 98, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023. He was born in Stamping Ground, Kentucky on March 12, 1925, to the late Martha “Mattie” and Hobart Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps and he was a founding partner in the Anderson and Rodgers custom drapery fabrication business with his daughter.   

Those left to cherish his life include his daughter, Kathy (Dennis Kopera) Rodgers; sons, Michael (Jonell) Anderson, Doug (Vickie) Anderson; grandchildren, Joseph M. Anderson, Laura Anderson, Jimbo Rodgers, Teddy Rodgers, Rebecca Campbell, Catherine Anderson, Brent Anderson; 12 great grandchildren; step- children, Bob Gardner, Rena Wiseman, Brian Gardner; and eight step- grandchildren.    

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by two wives, his first of over 35 years, Wilma Anderson, who passed away in 1982; and his second of 32 years, Nona Gardner Anderson; his sister, Geneva Anderson; brother, Kenneth Anderson; two great Grandchildren, Mason Campbell, James Campbell; and his step- daughter, Rebecca Berry.    

One of his great joys in his life was writing poetry (for over 80 years) and had over 450 poems posted on The FanStory website under the name of jaybird1. He also enjoyed traveling the country in the many different RVs he had owned over the years.  

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2-4pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. A private family graveside service will follow at a later date.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pink Sisters Inc., Versailles, KY, Hospice of the Bluegrass, or American Red Cross.
