Obituary of Rose Mary (Whitt) Sherlock

Rose Mary (Whitt) Sherlock a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on September 1, 2023 at age 77.

Rose was born to the late Charles and Hazel Whitt on June 26, 1946, in Inez, Kentucky. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John Sherlock, and her daughter Andrea Shindlebower Main (Ora) of Lexington KY. In addition, Rose and John have three grandchildren: Roxanne Shindlebower of Lexington, KY; John Shindlebower (Jessie) of Georgetown, KY; and Matthew Shindlebower of Lexington, KY as well as two perfect great-grandsons: Mason Shindlebower and Kolten Shindlebower. 

Rose is also survived by her brothers Gene Whitt, Johnny Whitt, Joe Whitt, and Donnie Whitt. Rose was preceded in death by her sister Juanita Burdette, and her brothers Charles Whitt, Bob Preston and Bill Preston.  

Rose was a loving and devoted stay-at-home mom for 20 years. Later in life, she worked outside of the home and then retired to her favorite role in life as a stay-at-home great-grandmother.  

Rose loved spending time in the kitchen creating amazing meals for her family.  She loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers in her yard.  Mostly, she loved spending time with her family and reading, especially to her great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Clark Legacy Center in Nicholasville with a funeral to follow at Lexington Cemetery at 12:30.  

Donations can be made to the Lexington Public Library (https://www.lexpublib.org/foundation) on her behalf where she spent many loving hours with her oldest great-grandson.
