Obituary of Louise Elizabeth Carr Williams

Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Louise Elizabeth Carr Williams peacefully passed away on June 29, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky at 101 years old.  

Louise was born to Richard Wyatt Carr and Frances Elizabeth Carr on May 3, 1922, in Knoxville, Tennessee.  

As a young adult, Louise was the church pianist in the Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee and faithfully served the Lord in many capacities throughout her life. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky and has lived at Sayre Christian Village for the past 14 years. Louise is a member of the Bonny Kate DAR in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 1942, Louise married Lawrence Samuel Williams Sr. and had 3 children, Joan (Joe) Elizabeth Williams Purkey of Knoxville, Tn, Lawrence (Charlene) Samuel Williams Jr of Versailles, KY, and Katherine (Rob) Ann Williams Southall of Versailles, KY.  

In addition to her children, Louise is survived by her sister in law, Jane Williams Bruhin; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Scott Joseph Purkey, Randi (Ben) Brooke Mjos and their children, Luci, Tobias, Carolyn, and Gideon; Ashley (Jed) Camille Edenstrom, and their children, Ariel, Naomi, Abigail, and Jedediah Samuel; Elizabeth (Zach) Ellen Southall Holcomb; William (Maddie) Robert Southall; and Wyatt George Samuel Southall; and her grandson in law, Eugene LaFever and his daughter, Sahara Bethany LaFever. 

Louise joins her husband, Lawrence Williams; her parents, Richard and Frances Isley Carr; sister, Virginia Carr Dance; her brother, Ernest Carr; a granddaughter Dana Purkey LaFever; and her son in law, Joseph Purkey in heaven as well as many in the Williams extended family.  

A Graveside Service will be held 1:00p, Monday, July 3, 2023, at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee, with Pastor Clay Harrington from Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN, officiating.
