Obituary of Richard Clark Elam

Richard Clark Elam, 82, husband of Sylvia Aldridge Elam, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2023, in Lawrenceburg, KY. Richard was born on November, 24, 1940 to the late Neal and Edith Clark Elam. Richard worked for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in maintenance for many years. He worked hard all of his life, and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing with his brother in law, attending ball games and was an avid Cinncinnati Reds fan. Richard appreciated a good visit to the Tennessee mountains, attending local car shows, car races, and horse races. His main joy was raising his family and he was a wonderful husband, dad, and brother.  

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Elam of Lawrenceburg; daughter, Donna (Tim) Monroe of Frankfort; two stepdaughters Melaina Fulkerson of Mackville, Susie Payton of Frankfort; daughter-in law Lee Payton of Frankfort; two sons, Tim (Jan) Elam of Austin, TX, Justin Elam of Lexington; sister, Marilyn (Lowell) Lynn of Frankfort; numerous grandchildren, and seven great grand children.  

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Eric Elam, Tommy Payton.  

A visitation for friends and family will begin at 11a-1p, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Clark Legacy Center in Frankfort, the funeral service will follow at 1p, with Bro. Rick Clark officiating. Family and friends will gather at the chapel in Sunset Memorial Gardens, in Frankfort, KY, following the service.
