Obituary of Joel Allen Hughes

Joel Allen Hughes, 80, husband of Judith Ann Hughes passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 in Lexington, KY.  He was born on July 6, 1942 in Atlanta, GA to the late Jonathan G. and Maxine (Smith) Hughes.  Joel retired as a Drill Sgt for U.S. Army after 21 years of service.  Other than his wife Judith he was survived by two daughters, Joyce (David) Inman, Louisville, KY; and Tammie Towles (Ron) Martin, Lexington, KY; three sons, Johnathan (Gina) Hughes, Elizabethtown, KY, Justin Hughes (Don) Hawk, Orlando, FL and Ray Towles, Harrodsburg, KY; three grandchildren Samanitha Martin, Dalton Towles and Benjamin Scott; one sister, Phyllis (Sam) Kelsey, Athens, TN.  He is preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Hughes.  A visitation will be 10:30am – 12:30pm Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Clark Legacy Center – Brannon Crossing followed by a service at 12:30pm.  Funeral honors to follow at 2:30pm at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
