Obituary of Kelvin Mitchell

Kelvin Mitchell, 64, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023.  Kelvin was born August 31, 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Mitchell, Sr and Carrie Bass Nalls of Detroit, Michigan.  

Kelvin was a very intelligent man with a beautiful soul. A dedicated IT Manager of 31 years, he retired from Kentucky State University in May 2014.   

Kelvin is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Carol Cotton Mitchell. His brother, Elijah Mitchell, Jr of Detroit, Michigan. His caregivers and sisters in law, Denia Payne, Jean Simpson, and Bonnee Armston, and his very special friend, Gerri Spencer.  Sisters in law, Debbie Young, Connie Taltoan (Darryl). His brothers in law, Terry Cotton (Sarah), Larry Cotton (Debbie), and Robert Cotton. His aunt, Maggie Bass. A host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. 

A Home Going Service will be held 12:00p, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel, 3250 Versailles Rd, Frankfort, KY, with Rev. Gerri Spencer officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Cotton, Jamel Simpson, Brandon Hunter, and Ravon Payne. Visitation will be held from 11:00a until the time of service on Saturday, at Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Rd, Frankfort, KY. 

A repass for friends and family will follow right after the service, at Kelvins home, in Frankfort beginning at 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Carol has welcomed anyone who would like to eat and honor Kelvins memory to attend.
